On
the night of December 4, 1956, one man, Sam
Phillips, the owner of Sun Records in Memphis,
brought together four legendary musicians
to the Sun Records studio for the greatest
rock 'n' roll jam session of all time. The
musical icons were Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins,
Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley. That night
made rock 'n' roll history. This national
tour of the Broadway musical Million Dollar
Quartet is inspired by a true story which
has become an international hit. Sam Phillips,
who is considered the "Father of Rock
'n' Roll" is responsible for launching
each of their careers.
Angels Flight (or Angel's
Flight) is a landmark funicular railway in
the Bunker Hill district of Downtown Los Angeles,
California.
It has two funicular cars, Sinai and Olivet.
The funicular has operated on two different
sites, using the same cars and iconic station
elements. Built in 1901 by Colonel J.W. Eddy,
lawyer, engineer and friend of President Abraham
Lincoln, Angels Flight is said to be the world's
shortest incorporated railway. The counterbalanced
cars, controlled by cables, travel a 33 percent
grade for 315 feet.
