Eddie Dugan, played
by Richard Gere, is a 22-year veteran of the New York Police Department.
He is ready to retire in seven days. He is so burned out and tired,
he is ready to move to his cabin
in Connecticut. However, the boss tells him that since he is a
veteran that he has to train two new rookie cops. He is not thrilled
with this idea.
Another fellow drug
enforcement officer,
played by Ethan Hawke, is married with a pregnant and ill wife
and seven kids already. He wants to move out of Brooklyn and buy
a house somewhere else. His current house is infested with mold
and his wife also has asthma. It is harming herself and the babies.
He will do anything to get out, even if it means compromising
his values. Instead of a business
cash advance, he steals drug money from this Brooklyn housing
project, and it goes unreported.
These officers find
themselves facing corruption and violence in New York's 65th precinct.
Drug dealers
everywhere and drive-by killings.
Eddie is bored and
counting his days left for retirement. He is mocked by his fellow
officers because he is less concerned with fighting crime and
teaching the rookie officers.
The movie also stars
Don Cheadle, Wesley Snips, Vincent D'Onofrio, Brian O'Byrne and
Will Patton. It was distributed by Overture Films. The film was
shot on location in Brooklyn, New York.
There is a lot of violence,
blood, and vulgar language. Not a good Richard Gere movie.
