In Date Night,
Steve Carell and Tina Fey, star as Phil and Claire Foster respectively,
go out for a night on the town in Manhattan. After hearing about
their best friends getting a divorce, they feel they need to spice
up their dull and boring lives.
When they arrive at
a fancy restaurant in Manhattan, they find it is packed with people
and they have no reservations. While waiting a while, the hostess
call out the name Tripplehorn. No one claims the table, so Phil
yells out "here!". After stealing someone's reservation,
two men approach the table and ask them to go into the alley to
talk. The guns come out and the hijinks begin.
The Foster's are mistakenly
taken for the real Tripplehorns who are wanted for blackmailing
a stolen flashdrive with incriminating information and pictures
on it.
Claire, who is into
Real Estate, remembers a client who is a security expert, and
they go to his place to get an address of the Tripplehorns so
they can find this flashdrive and present to these thugs who are
after them. The night turns into a night on the run when they
are one step ahead of the criminals.
Date Night also
stars Mark Wahlberg, Kristen Wiig, Taraji P. Henson and Jimmi
Simpson. The film was directed by Shawn Levy. It was distributed
by 20th Century Fox.
I thought it was more
of a comedy, but the movie was lacking jokes. To me, it only provided
a chuckle now and then.
