The Parade
Company is celebrating the 80th birthday of America’s
Thanksgiving Parade® with its first-ever Great Parade
Giveaway where 80,000 nostalgic coin holder gifts filled with
prizes and coupons will be distributed to Parade-goers along
the new Parade route on Woodward Avenue, Thanksgiving morning,
Thursday, November 23, 2006, beginning at 9:20 a.m. Ten of
the gifts will hold gold tickets, giving Parade-goers the
chance to win grand prizes. The Great Parade Giveaway is sponsored
by Belle Tire and CitiGroup.
The gold ticket prizes include:
-Two Detroit Red Wing Packages, the first is an autographed
Nicklas Lidstrom jersey and puck and the second is four tickets
to the December 12th match-up between the Detroit Red Wings
and the Ottawa Senators
-Four suite tickets to Irving Berlin's White Christmas from
Olympia Entertainment
-An autographed Carlos Guillen jersey (2006 Detroit Tigers
MVP) and four tickets to a mutually agreeable game in 2007
-A VIP tour of News/Talk 760 WJR studios
-A stereo system from Clear Channel Radio
-A set of custom tires and rims from Belle Tire
-Grand packages from VIA Rail
with first-class round trip rail transportation from Windsor
to Toronto with hotel accommodations
-An overnight stay at the Detroit Marriott and dinner for
two at Coach Insignia
-A family membership to the New Detroit Science Center
The Great Parade Giveaway’s 80,000 gifts will feature
a collection of one or more of the different coupons and prizes,
including $1.00 off admission for Holidays on Parade; a free
ride or popcorn at Holidays on Parade; 10% off coupon for
Belle Tire; a complimentary children’s book from Art
Van, Has Anyone Seen Christmas, that inspired the new float
for Art Van; temporary tattoos from 106.7; free custard from
Culver’s of Roseville; and free child’s admission
from the New Detroit Science Center.
America’s Thanksgiving Parade® in Detroit is one
of the country’s oldest and most celebrated parades
and in addition to the Great Parade Giveaway, its 80th birthday
will feature a new Parade route and start time and a star-studded
list of celebrities.
The new route for the 80th America’s Thanksgiving Parade®
is modeled after the original Parade route in 1924. The Parade
will step-off at Woodward Avenue and Mack on Thursday, November
23 at 9:20 a.m. in downtown Detroit and end at Woodward Avenue
and Congress. More than one million people will be watching
America’s Thanksgiving Parade® as it makes its way
down Woodward Avenue.
