"We
are bringing back snowmaking to the Winter Blast," Witz said.
"The folks at Shanty Creek Resorts have donated three to four
snow cannons. We're going to create some snow hills for the kids,
we're going to guarantee that we're going to have snowshoeing and
we'll building as much as we can."

"We're
asking for each one of our guests, if possible, to bring a can of
food, an article of clothing or a book as a donation to those who
are less fortunate," said Robert Ficano, Wayne County Executive.
"It's great because it brings people out. A tremendous economic
impact. We saw that not only from the Super Bowl over the years."

Ficano
added: "This is a different twist this year to not only recognize
the great time we're going to have but one that is also going to
recognize those that are less fortunate."

"This
partnership is going to make a difference to so many," Wilson
said. "In our first disbursement, 10,000 pounds of clothes
were distributed for free in less than four hours. This initiative
makes a huge difference."

"We
moved our ice sculptures into Cadillac Square," Witz added.
"Our winter carnival stays to the south of the site. This
is the weekend you can skate for free at Campus Martius Park."
