STEVE
WALLACE, YOUNGEST WINNER IN MIS HISTORY, TO ENTER NASCAR BUSCH SERIES
CARFAX 250 IN TITLE SPONSOR’S CAR

Michigan International Speedway
BROOKLYN,
MI. – Many
people can recall exactly where they were and what they did for
their 18th birthday. NASCAR Busch Series driver Steve Wallace is
one of those people, and for his 19th birthday, he likely wouldn’t
mind duplicating his last birthday celebration.
Wallace, the son of racing legend Rusty Wallace, will drive the
race sponsor’s No. 64 Carfax Dodge at Michigan International
Speedway on August 19 in the NASCAR Busch Series Carfax 250.
“I am thrilled to team up with CARFAX,” said team owner
Rusty Wallace. “The information CARFAX provides to consumers
is among the best in the auto industry and is a true service. I
am proud to have them on Steve’s No. 64 in Michigan.”
“Collaborating with RWI Racing is a powerful marketing vehicle.
Steve Wallace is a promising young talent and we look forward to
a successful partnership in Michigan,” said CARFAX communications
director Larry Gamache.
The Carfax 250, which will take place just one day after the junior
Wallace’s 19th birthday, will hopefully serve for him as a
fine reminder of how he spent the day after his birthday in 2005:
by winning the ARCA RE/MAX Series Hantz Group 200 at MIS.
It was nearly all Wallace, all the time last season during his lone
MIS start. Wallace started fifth and led 84 of 106 laps to take
the Hantz Group 200 by a 0.401 second margin over Mike Guerity.
The small margin, however, was not reflective of the bulk of the
race; Wallace’s car clearly dominated throughout the event,
and Wallace had plenty of help as his father’s NEXTEL Cup
crew serviced him in the pits and Rusty and uncle Kenny sat on the
pit box to provide professional assistance.
Wallace will also enter the ARCA RE/MAX Series Hantz Group 200 on
Friday, August 18 in hopes of defending his crown. David Stremme
drove the same No. 61 RWI car that Wallace will enter to victory
in June’s Hantz Group 200 at MIS.
As Wallace enters his first Busch Series competition at Michigan,
he returns to a track he enjoys.
“Michigan’s a very cool race track to come back to,”
said Steve Wallace. “Dad’s got some victories here,
and I’ve got a victory here. Whenever you win, it’s
a big deal, and especially here, since Michigan’s the home
of all the car manufacturers. You get a lot of respect, a lot of
attention.”
If Wallace can emerge victorious at MIS over a loaded Carfax 250
field that includes Dale Earnhardt Jr. and series points leader
Kevin Harvick among many other NEXTEL Cup stars, the respect and
attention will only continue to grow.
